I've been building utility billing software since 2007.
I'm Steve McKean, and I build and support WaterWorksPro.
Where it started
In 2007 I wrote a utility billing system that two villages ran their billing on for several years. It taught me what a small utility office actually needs: bills that are right the first time, answers for the customer on the phone, and software a part-time clerk can learn without a manual.
Why rebuild it
Small utilities are still stuck choosing between spreadsheets, decades-old desktop software, and systems priced and built for big cities. WaterWorksPro is the 2007 idea rebuilt from the ground up for today: it runs in a web browser, connects to smart meters, takes payments online, and gives meter readers an app on their phone.
Who's behind it
Before WaterWorksPro I spent more than 15 years building systems for government and public safety. That work is where I learned to respect tight budgets, non-technical staff, and software that has to work the first time. When you call WaterWorksPro, you talk to me.
Built for 500 to 10,000 accounts, on purpose.
Out in the open
Pricing is on the website and the demo is open to anyone. You can judge WaterWorksPro before you ever talk to us.
Plain language
Screens, help text and this website are written for the person doing the work, not for IT departments.
